Position Summary:
A Sales Account Manager is responsible for managing existing accounts and developing new business with existing and new customers. This involves all internal and external related activity throughout the business cycle, including prospecting, quoting, project management, sampling, securing and managing production orders, and on-going customer support.
This position helps define and execute strategic sales plans, builds relationships with customers, identifies new business opportunities, negotiates and closes business deals, and maintains extensive knowledge of market conditions.
This position requires an energetic self-starter with a hunger to manage customer relationships and secure new business via referrals, cold calls, website leads, and trade show networking. Strong leadership skills, the ability to manage multiple projects, and the skill to interface with all levels of the organization and outside market is required.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
- Further penetrate existing customers and develop new customers that align with the strategic vision, capabilities, and growth plans of the company.
- Develop and manage a new business sales pipeline by prospecting and networking with existing and prospective customers – presenting value propositions, building trust, generating quote opportunities, and securing orders.
- Identify and track emerging markets, product applications, and trends while continually searching for new sales opportunities.

- Provide project management leadership to advance products through the new product release (NPR) sales and product development pipeline process.
- Assist Sales and Marketing leadership in the creation and implementation of sales plans, presentation materials, website content, product literature, etc.
- Review and deliver quotes and presentations. Follow-up with key decision makers to advance account development and secure new business.
- Manage the receipt and flow of customer information. Oversee general inquiries, RFQ’s, and requests for action to ensure a timely response. Represent customers internally by communicating their needs to all areas of the business; ensuring that customer satisfaction goals are established and achieved.
- Provide technical advice to customers regarding material selection, product design, and manufacturing processes to help them develop and bring their products to life.
- Oversee the order receipt and contract review process. Track order flow and liaison with internal team to ensure timely delivery.
- Prepare sales forecasts and new business development pipeline reports.
- Manage performance by leveraging CRM to track sales calls, quotes, and pipeline activity, while monitoring sampling, sales volume, and owning pricing and gross margin to deliver on the strategic plan and budget.
- Proactively pursue opportunities to further penetrate existing customers to increase profitable sales.
- Travel to customer locations, and attend conferences, industry events, and trade shows.
Qualifications Required:
- Bachelor’s degree is highly preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years of sales and/or business development experience in manufacturing custom products, preferably in the printing and/or converting industry.
- Progressive track record of prospecting and securing orders for new business.
- Demonstrate ability to actively listen, communicate, present, influence, and motivate effectively at all levels of an organization.
- Strong business acumen. Detail oriented, analytical and strategic thinking skills.
- Excellent mentoring, coaching, and people management skills.
- Ability to respond to both commercial and technical questions from customers.
- Proactive, team player motivated to win and grow the business profitably.
- Proficient in using Microsoft Office Suite – Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
- Ability to read and interpret customers’ drawings and specifications.
- Ability to work independently.
- Travel within the US up to 25% of the time.
Qualifications Desired:
- Prior experience with printing and packaging industry ERP software (LabelTraxx).
- ISO experience.
- Healthcare experience.
