Quality Control Technician - 2nd Shift

Hours: M-TH 3:00pm -1:30am
4 10-hour days for 40 hours per week

Location: Menomonee Falls, WI

Reports to: Quality Manager

 

Position Summary

The QC Technician is an experienced professional responsible for performing a variety of advanced tasks to ensure product and process quality. Working with minimal supervision, this role conducts complex testing, analyzes data, troubleshoots quality issues, and assists in the training and development of junior QC personnel. The QC Tech 2 is crucial for maintaining quality standards, supporting inspections, and driving continuous improvement initiatives. 

 

Responsibilities

  • Advanced testing and inspection: Conduct complex and non-routine tests and inspections on raw materials, in-process, and finished products using advanced analytical techniques and equipment.
  • Troubleshooting: Investigate and troubleshoot instrument and process issues in the lab. Assist in Out-of-Specification (OOS) investigations and determine the root cause of quality incidents.
  • Data analysis: Evaluate, interpret, and report test results. Analyze data to identify trends and potential quality issues and support continuous improvement efforts.
  • Procedure development and maintenance: Review and update standard operating procedures (SOPs), test methods, and other quality documentation as needed.
  • Training and mentorship: Assist with cross-training new or junior QC technicians on lab procedures, equipment operation, and quality standards.
  • Validation and compliance: Participate in equipment validation processes and ensure all activities adhere to cGMP, ISO, and other relevant regulatory standards.
  • Interdepartmental collaboration: Work with production, engineering, and management to resolve quality concerns and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPAs).

 

Qualifications

A QC Technician 2 typically requires an Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in a scientific field and at least 2 years of relevant experience in a quality control or manufacturing lab setting. Key skills include a strong grasp of lab techniques, data analysis, troubleshooting complex equipment, and interpreting technical documents. Effective communication, analytical, and leadership abilities, particularly in training others, are also important. 

  • Associate Degree preferred.
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent required. 
  • 2 years of experience in a manufacturing or quality control or regulated environment.
  • Basic math and computer skills, including familiarity with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to perform repetitive tasks with accuracy.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to read and follow basic instructions. 

 

Physical requirements

The role may involve standing for extended periods. Manual dexterity is necessary for handling materials, and certain visual abilities like close vision or color recognition might be needed for inspections.
