Flexographic Press Operator

Job Title: Flexographic Press Operator                            

Department: Production                                                

Reports To: Production Team Lead and Operations Manager

Hours: M-TH 6:00am-2:30pm, Fr 6:00am-10:00am         

Summary

The press operator uses flexographic printing presses for manufacturing custom products within the medical and industrial industries. Produces a product based on design specifications and is responsible for product quality, scrap rates, and other efficiency measures.  Responsible for performing routine preventative maintenance and keeping press equipment and work area clean and organized.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

The following duties are required to perform this job successfully. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Review and follow daily production schedule in ERP system (LabelTraxx)
  • Sets up press efficiently so that finished product matches customer specifications
  • Read job specifications, drawings and web paths
  • Mount print plates
  • Set-up and insert rotary dies
  • Splices roll material together
  • Adjust speed, tension, and alignment as necessary to ensure quality product
  • Perform and document quality inspection to ensure product meets stringent quality standards and customer and engineering specifications
  • Perform line clearance after production of each run
  • Attaches, operates, and detaches finishing equipment used on press
  • Complete final inspection paperwork for jobs being finished on press
  • Completes job related documentation
  • Tracks time and materials used at press by entering data into ERP (Label Traxx)
  • Review press ready pallets before run, ensuring all required items are present
  • Washes up press efficiently to minimize the amount of time needed for the next set-up
  • Performs daily, weekly & quarterly preventative maintenance. Fills out and submits request forms when additional maintenance is required.

 

Qualifications Required

ADDEV operates in an ISO13485 regulated environment where processes and procedures are strictly adhered to.

▪     High school diploma or equivalent.

▪     Strong knowledge of flexographic operations

▪     Solid mechanical aptitude

▪     Experience in selection of anilox rollers and plate mounting

▪     Rotary die cutting experience

▪     Knowledge of ink mixing/color matching

▪     Attention to detail and accuracy with high-level of quality consciousness

▪     Ability to read, analyze and interpret job specifications and work with drawings and written instructions.

▪     Ability to multi-task with strong problem solving skills

▪     Ability to work in an individual and team environment

▪     Mathematical, calculator and ruler competent. Must have ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. The employee must be able to read a ruler and convert measurements from fractions to decimal equivalents and vice versa quickly and accurately.

▪     Basic computer knowledge

▪     Excellent attendance and punctuality

▪     Keeps press area clean and 6S organized

▪     Abides by all safety rules and procedures

▪     Completes any assigned miscellaneous duties that support the business functions

The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds, with the assistance of lifts. 

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Work environment – While performing the duties of press operator the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, low risk of static shock, and wet and/or humid conditions. Individual will come into contact with cleaning solvents at press side. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
